Basketball hoop height is the same almost everywhere: the rim hangs 3.05 m above the floor, which is 10 feet. That is the answer to "how high is a basketball hoop" in FIBA, in the NBA and in 3x3.
Short answer: A basketball hoop is 3.05 m (10 ft) high, measured from the floor to the top edge of the ring. It is the same in FIBA, the NBA and 3x3. For children, the FIBA mini-basketball manual suggests 2.43 m (8 ft) for under 10 and 1.83 m (6 ft) for under 6.
How high is a basketball hoop?
| Part | FIBA | NBA |
|---|---|---|
| Rim height (top edge of the ring) | 3.05 m (tolerance 6 mm) | 10 ft (3.05 m) |
| Ring, inside diameter | 45.0-45.9 cm | 18 in (45.7 cm) |
| Backboard, width x height | 1.80 x 1.05 m | 6 x 3.5 ft (1.83 x 1.07 m) |
Measure from the floor to the top edge of the ring. FIBA allows a tolerance of 6 mm, so 3.05 m is the number to check with your tape measure.
